* The Holidays Act provides that July 2 is Canada Day when July 1 is a Sunday. Canada Day celebrations however take place on July 1st.
Although not public holidays, Commonwealth Day and theAnniversary of the Statute of Westminster are marked in Canada by flying, where physical arrangements allow (i.e.two flagpoles), the Royal Union Flag, also known as the "Union Jack" along with the National Flag at federal buildings, airports, military bases and other federal buildings and establishments, from sunrise until sunset.
Physical arrangements means the existence of at least two flag poles; the Canadian flag always takes precedence and is never replaced by the Union Jack. Where only one pole exists, no special steps should be taken to erect an additional pole to fly the Union Jack for this special day.
